1-Year Study Plan for IIT-JEE

1 Year study plan for iit-jee

A lot of students from a very young age have an aspiration to pursue engineering and dream of getting admission into the prestigious IITs. But getting into the IIT’s is not a cakewalk. The JEE Main and the JEE Advanced are two difficult exams which students first need to clear to get admission to the IITs. Not just the difficulty of the exams but the competition that exists makes it even harder to get a seat into the IIT’s. On average 13 lakh, students sit for the IIT- JEE exam every year for admissions to the top-most engineering colleges of the country such as the Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTIs), IITs, Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs), Netaji Subhash Institute of Technology (NSITs), and many others. The right preparation approaches are the key because JEE is surely one of the most difficult entrance examinations to clear. Even if you have not yet started preparing for the exam, and have not attended in coaching for the exam, the fact remains that you can still manage to get through the exam and get a good score by preparing for it diligently. One cannot say that coaching is useless, it has its importance, but it is not an absolute requirement to crack the JEE. In this article, let us look at some useful tips and tricks that can help you to prepare for the IIT – JEE exam.

Strategies and Tips to Crack IIT JEE without Coaching

While preparing for any exam, you cannot lose patience while learning. One has to be slow but steady with the preparation and develop the correct routine that can make a considerable difference to your preparation. The plan you devise must focus on improving your study pattern and the choice of textbooks and reference books that you have to follow. These are selected so that they affect the way you solve the paper in a  good way and all of these strategies will be the crucial factor for you to achieve your dreams. Look at a few tips you can follow in your preparation, which if done rightly, can be vital for your selection.

The NCERT’s are the bible for preparation

NCERT books not just constitute the syllabus of the exam but also form the foundation for the JEE entrance exams, notably for the JEE Main. Directly starting with the reference books is a typical mistake made by several students even though their theoretical understanding and concepts are not up to the mark. NCERT books are the best books to start your preparation because they will give you a substantial base of concepts. It has also been noted that a large chunk of the JEE Main paper is based on content in the NCERT books. However, they do not provide enough knowledge for application-based questions.

 Remain Interested

You must never lose interest in what you are studying. Whenever you read something new or do something wrong, search questions related to a particular theory. You should be able to examine every theory you are studying to gain a better knowledge of each concept. Asking questions to yourself about various concepts will help you improve your understanding, thus, help you solve all easy and difficult questions based on that theory. Mugging concepts will never be sufficient for JEE.

Revise, Revise and Revise

Students usually either don’t revise at all or they revise a lot. But you must know, that for competitive exams revision is the key. Once you have completed a chapter, revise it then and there and it will not require more than 2-3 hours. Increase your revision by solving application questions on the topic from multiple reference books.

Coaching

The coaching industry is a boon to some but a curse to many. They help students in preparation but students often mistakenly think that the coaching they receive is the only thing that will determine their selection. Coaching centers must be chosen wisely. The professionalism of the faculty, past achievements and the fee structure should be considered before joining any institute.
