It would be safe to presume that India is the Mecca when it comes to engineers. With literally hundreds of thousands of engineering graduates passing through the rigorous system each year, it is extremely important to ensure that a good system of education providing a high quality of technical knowledge and skills is established. India has made progress when it comes to providing technical education for its youth; however, there are still quite a lot of loopholes that keep on haunting the system. In recent years, the education institutions have tried to emulate a more westernized means of education, laying primary emphasis on the need for technical knowledge and real-life application skills over theoretical aspects of the syllabus. Many premier institutions of the country have also started to follow credit and electoral system which, in a way, revolutionized how the assessment was being done over the years.
Why is there a need for an excellent solid undergraduate education? One of the reasons can be cited towards the fact that India’s population has exploded within the last few decades, but employment opportunities haven’t quite kept up the increase in demand. Many of the youth who are graduates are now faced with the issue of unemployment or in some cases, underemployment. This helps us realize that good quality education is an absolute must.
Fortunately, some educational institutions across the country have been committed to the prospect of providing high-quality education and ensuring that the students can shine when thrust onto the global platform. In recent years Andhra Pradesh has been a much-preferred destination when it comes to providing excellent quality technical education. One of the reasons can be the rapidly growing IT industry present alongside many MNCs having their establishments located there.
Adikavi Nannaya University is a state level university located in Rajahmundry, Andhra Pradesh. The institution was established in March 2006 through the Government of India Act. It attends to need of students all around the surrounding districts of Godavari. The university shares its name with Nannaya one of the most prominent authors within the Telugu literature community. All of the seventy-four postgraduate institutes and 360-degree colleges present in the district are affiliated to Adikavi Nannaya University, previously being affiliated to Andhra University. The university can be said to be the pioneer of a program launched in Geo-Informatics and Petroleum Exploration, which is the first of its kind within the state and one of the very few being present at the national level. The University is also committed to the plan of providing five years integrated courses along with introducing new courses in the Department of Mathematics and Computing to ensure that their students are equipped with the latest skill sets to perform well in the rapidly expanding IT industry.
