IGCSE board is International General Certificate of Secondary Education is an academically specialized international English language curriculum which will be in CIE A-Level. This is similar to the GCSE board which was recognized by the United Kingdom. The qualifications are based on the individual subject of study, core subjects for IGCSE include first language, second language, mathematics and one or more subject in the field of science. Over 10,000 schools undertake IGCSE syllabus in over 160 countries. IGCSE is an important qualification for students ranging from 14 to 16 years and offers them 70 subjects. Out of 70 subjects in IGCSE board 30 are language and a school can give a combination of this in its own choice.
There are three types of International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE)

  1. Cambridge IGCSE: – The Cambridge International General Certificate of Secondary Education is conducted in the month of February in India, May and October and the results are released in May, August and January respectively. The exams are set by Cambridge Assessment International Education. The groups mentioned below are offered to those candidates who get a pass in all seven subjects. Group one is the Languages, Group two is the Humanities and Social Science, Group three is the Science stream, Group four is the Mathematics, Group five is the Creative, Vocational and technical.
  2. Edexcel International General Certificate of Secondary Education exams are conducted in the months of June and January, Edexcel is a multinational education and examination body owned by Pearson.
  3. OxfordAQA International General Certificate of Secondary Education exams are conducted in May, June and November. The exam is set by Oxford International AQA which also sets GCSE exams in the United Kingdom.
    To know the IGCSE board allows the students to take a minimum of five and a maximum of 14 subjects and as I already said the board has the core curriculum of which consists of the first language, second language, mathematics and one more subject in the field of science. English, mathematics and science are IGCSE main subjects. It’s according to one’s wish to study anything other than this on his or her own (i.e.) one is allowed to opt any subject like social science to arts or technology. Other than the three subjects one is given the liberty to select a field of his or her own.
